PUP Admin introduces students' OPT-OUT and Voluntary Contribution


PUP students received an e-mail from the PUP Administration about the Opt-Out and Voluntary Contribution of Students Under Free Tuition Law on April 13.


Five years since Republic Act 10931 or Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017, Polytechnic University of the Philippines introduced their student with voluntary options attached in the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the said law.


According to the sent e-mail, the introduction of the voluntary options was so that the benefits of the said law was fair on both sides including the two options stated on Section 8 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA 10931 were Opt Out and Voluntary Contribution.


Opt out was for students who wants to get rid of the subsidy received by the Free Tuition Law and pay for Enrollment Fees.


Voluntary Contribution was for those students who still wants to received subsidy by the Free Tuition Law but also wanted to contribute a small amount for the University, where it acts as a donation, no minimum or maximum amount required.


Moreover, PUP said on the e-mail that these options or purely voluntary where students may still elect to benefit from RA 10931 or Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017.


PUP students can read the e-mail in their respective Microsoft outlook account using their PUP webmails in order to have a full read of Section 8 and 9 of the said law.
