Falling and failing seem like two words that are alike, but it is not. And they will teach you a different perspective on life. It is like you think you did what is best and right but you feel like you failed and fell really hard.
OLYMPUS. A special code used by the army of the United States of America for the White House is assumed to be the safest part of the earth. Well, as with how things go in life when you feel like peaking, there you will be falling. Mike Banning, a former head of security for the President of the United States of America played by Gerard Butler, thinks and did unthinkable ways of trying to save the President in the 2013 film by Antoine Fuqua, “Olympus Has Fallen”.
The title of this movie is based on a fictitious Secret Service code for the White House called "Olympus." The White House is unquestionably the safest location in the country, if not the entire planet. So when a North Korean terrorist plot can be implemented within seven minutes before the army could arrive, it endangers the safety of US President Benjamin Asher played by Aaron Eckhart.
The film started when the first family is still complete. But with an accident, Mike Banning has to make a decision that will lead to the death of a family member and him falling and failing the president which he treats as a very close person. Even though he left the white house, he did not fail to protect it. He continuously cared for and watched over it, especially the son of the president.
The transition from one scene to another is unpredictable which makes the film more exciting to watch. Though some scenes can trigger some people as an action film, it caters to everything you need as a viewer. In "Olympus Has Fallen," the visual effects and attention to detail are outstanding. The destruction portrayed on TV appears to have genuinely taken place. The impression is even more astounding when you consider that the majority of this mayhem was produced by CGI and filmed on substantial special sets built in Louisiana.
When all the securities in the white house have been already taken over, it is only Mike Banning who's left fighting inside the house. With his knowledge and physical abilities, he was able to find sparkplugs that are for you to find out when you watch the film. Also, the negotiation between the acting President Allan Trumbull played by Morgan Freeman, and the other head of defense is engaging. They did not only tackle what is happening in Olympus but also what could be the impact of the situation on the world. It is not only Banning who is looking for redemption but the whole state as well because it is a war against the world that is at stake here.
Though the film has the usual cast of a protagonist and antagonist that you expect, it did not focus only on one person, but a lot of people who have their points of view and opinions on what is happening. They are all fighting for something that contributes to the state and their family.
I would like to give good remarks about the actors in the film. They have given their roles justice and were able to build questions and connections while watching the film. The emotions were uttered through their eyes rather than their mouth. The impact of the sounds used is convincing of how heavy and crucial the scene is. I also would like to commend the lines and script of the film because it is understandable despite using jargon languages for the army.
As this movie, was plotted based on the perspective of the army, you can expect a bloody hell of a ride just to go out of the doors alive. There were lives that were saved and sacrificed and even the safety of the world was at risk. Even minutes away, things turned upside down for the other side.
The film has a lot of stories and perspectives to tell to its viewers. As a matter of fact, the plot and conflict of this action film. In the special features, it mentions that the attack on the White House was planned by former Secret Service agents who were asked how they would attack the safest place on earth if they had to.
Just when you feel like you failed other people and yourself and you feel really hard, maybe you could think that falling deep will give you a different view which will provide you with a different mindset that you’ll look forward to tomorrow. If Mike was inside the white house, he could not save the house and himself. But because he was only working for the treasury, he had a different view and opening of the chaos that is happening. He lifted the white house from falling.
That’s why there is no doubt that there are two sequels to this film. A 2016 film, London Has Fallen plot where the world leaders are all together and it seems like a trap for another to write in history and its last part, Angel Has Fallen in 2019. Olympus Has Fallen is available on Netflix for you to watch and enjoy as well.
This film will be a reminder for you that when you feel like you failed and felt terrible, Olympus also fell but it just opened more doors on what should they improve and work on. A NO for you can be a redirection for you. Keep your head high and continue to rise against the odds.
