CAF SC launches petition against incoming 2nd year BSA and BSMA students resectioning

PUP CAF Student Council released a petition letter signed by incoming 2nd year BSA and BSMA Class Presidents concerning reverting back the resectioning to the last preceding year that was sent to the CAF Administrators, on October 3 on its Facebook page.

An emergency consultation meeting with class presidents was held on the same day wherein the council discussed the result of the sensing form that was sent to incoming 2nd-year students the night before the said consultation.

There is an 81.76% turnout of responses and 90.06% of the response disagrees with the re-sectioning.

“First thing po kasi eh, hindi po kami well informed,” said Mary Dhel, BSMA 1-9 Class President on their reason against resectioning.

“May scenario po kami last year na dahil sa pressure ng course and nag-struggle po talaga makipag-socialize, iniiwasan po sana naming 'yung may mag-drop/withdraw po ulit with the same concern,” said Iza Belle Verdillo, BSA 1-4 Class President.

“In my opinion po, sa kalagitnaan po kasi ng 1st year namin, gumawa po ako ng gforms para kumustahin 'yung class namin and may ilan pong umamin na wala pa silang ka-close masyado kaya po ginawan namin ng paraan para magkaro'n ng interaction ang bawat isa sa class namin. We all know naman po na hindi madali yung program na ito and we chose this pero malaking tulong po sa students ang maayos na environment para mas mapadali 'yung pag-aaral. Malaking pahirap po talaga kapag binago pa 'yung section kasi panibagong adjustments po talaga nang malala,” Alma Dapito, BSMA 1-8 Class President added.

The students claiming that all of the sections were re-sectioned wherein there is no transparent reasons were announced and students who did not take the Special Qualifying Examination (SQE) and with higher grades on major subjects were put into the higher sections while those who took the qualifying examination were put into succeeding sections.

Moreover, they assumed that the sectioning is the same as the previous years wherein the sections with the most number of students that will shift will be dissolved and students that were retained were put into other sections.

Meanwhile, the students are worrying about the updates on the petition as their enrollment is until October 5 only and there is no response yet from the CAF Administrators.
